Little C Gets a Swingset

Little C got a swingset for his birthday from his grandma and grandpa B. It arrived at our house the day Mommy had her surgery and it sat in the entryway until a couple days ago. Mommy and Daddy finally tackled the task of putting it all together. These are some videos we took of Little C enjoying the various new toys as they were completed.

And ... a shot of the entire completed swingset in our yard ...

Little C Turns 2!!!

Well, it's official! We have a 2 year old!!! We had originally planned to spend the weekend before Little C's birthday with his grandparents on Daddy's side of the family. Unfortunately, we had to cancel those plans because Mommy ended up having surgery suddenly and wasn't up for traveling. So Little C's birthday ended up just being a very simple day of hanging out at home. The only things we did different than usual is that Mommy and Daddy brought in a big present to surprise Little C when he got up from his quiet time. Mommy also made Little C a birthday cake and we sang "Happy Birthday" to Little C and tried to get him to blow out his candles. We got some really cute video of Little C finding his present after quiet time.

Candles in ... getting ready to light them.

Singing ...

Look at those candles burn ... Little C didn't know what to do with them. Daddy ended up blowing them out for him.

Chowing down!! Little C loved his cake!!!

Clark County Fair 2013

We enjoy going to the Clark County Fair every year with our good friends, C & M and their little ones. This year they had some great displays that were a lot of fun for the kiddos. Little C especially loved them and didn't want to leave when we decided it was time to eat. He threw a huge fit and Mommy ended up carrying him away kicking and screaming. Once he found out we were eating though, he calmed right down. I thought I'd share some pics of our adventure at the Fair this year.

Trying on the headset in the fire/paramedic truck ...

Trying out the different percussion instruments ... such fun!!!
Mommy showing Little C how the snare drum sounds ...

Bongo's!!!

Bongos are fun!!!

Looking at all the cars before the demolition derby started ...
Just waiting for the show to start ...
Little C loved the cars but did NOT like the loud noise of the engines at the demolition derby. He spent the entire show on Mommy's lap trying to peek around and watch the cars while Mommy covered his ears.

Little C's "Big Boy" Bed

In August we finally moved Little C into a toddler bed. He was so proud to have a "big boy" bed instead of being in the crib.

Moving him brought some new challenges for quiet time and bedtime. We ended up installing a hook on the outside of his bedroom door so we can make sure he stays in his room for quiet time and bedtime. At first I would unhook the door before I went to bed, but soon found that was not the most wise thing with Little C. Initially, Little C would come into my room and wake me up when he woke up. One day, instead of waking me up he went out into the living room and was at the door when Daddy came home from work. We have no idea how long he had been up or what he had been doing during that time. We decided that was not the safest thing for Little C; now I keep his room locked until either I get up, Daddy comes home, or I hear Little C wake up. Since Little C now has his toy box and toys in his room this seems to work well. I'm just glad he likes his big boy bed!!

Little C Goes to His 1st Friend Birthday Party

At the end of July, Little C was invited to attend a birthday party for one of his friend's from nursery. Little C and Mommy got to go and had such a good time at little miss S's party. She had a guy there making balloon animals. Mommy was asked what Little C liked. At the time Little C didn't really show much interest in much of any animals, so Mommy answered that he loved cars. The guy said he would make a car out of balloons for Little C and this is what he made.

The yellow are the headlights ...
Little C enjoyed pushing the car around just like he would any of his other toy cars.

The rear of the car ... red taillights ...

It was designed so he could climb into it and "ride" it though he only did this once or twice.

Little C's Mischievous Side

I'm a little behind in my posts so I'll be trying to catch up with the next several posts. A couple months ago, Little C was playing in his room. Big C and Mommy were in another room and thought everything was fine because we could hear Little C with his toys. Little did we know the mischief he was really getting into ... the following pictures tells it all!!

Note the open Vaseline at Little C's feet while he is holding the lid ... We were very relieved that we caught him before he began spreading that mess all around!! The baby powder was sprinkled all around the corner on every possible surface of the floor he could find. The good thing was that it cleaned up easily with a vacuum and now my vacuum smells really good every time I use it.

Mommy's Little Helper

Little C has developed this wonderful quality that I really hope he keeps as he gets older. This quality is that he LOVES to help. He throws fits if I don't let him help. He loves to help Mommy empty the dishwasher and put dishes away. He loves to help Mommy make dinner by stirring and adding things in when Mommy says to add them. Oh and I can't forget to add that he loves making sure everything is up to the proper taste standards as we cook (he tastes everything!). He loves to set the table and to help clear it when the meal is done. He loves to throw garbage away. When he sees a piece of garbage somewhere (including at the park) he will pick it up and say "away" then proceed to find the nearest garbage can and dispose of it.

Little C has also developed a love of cleaning up. He learned the song "clean up, clean up" in the nursery at church and has brought it home. He will start singing "clean up, clean up", then he looks at Mommy to pick up the singing of the song and once Mommy starts singing he will promptly begin picking up his toys and putting them in his toy box. He also will do this when he spills his snack and has to pick it up off the floor.

The latest thing Little C has discovered and insists on helping Mommy with is watering the garden or lawn. He is so adorable and helpful I had to take some pics last week while he helped water.

Intent on making sure he pushes hard enough to get the water to work

Watering the grape tomatoes and peppers

Watering the tomatoes

Trying to feel the water while he sprays ... every time he tried this the water would quit because it took him two hands to get enough pressure on the handle to make the sprayer work

Getting down low ...

Down low ... and a little off the plants, but he's trying ...

Peppers ...

Gotta get the bottom of the plant ...

And now gotta get this other plant ...
I really hope he keeps this helpful trait as he gets older. He is so sweet about helping and this Mommy loves her Little Helper!!!

Water Fun

Last year Little C wasn't fond of swimming in the little pool we had as it was a bit too chilly for him. It's amazing how a year makes such a difference for our little ones. This year Little C absolutely loves water in any form he can get it. It was finally warm enough in June to get the pool out and start the summer fun. The first time we got it out Big C filled the pool while Little C started playing. Mommy later joined Little C for the fun.

The next time it was warm enough for the pool Mommy let Little C have fun with the hose while filling the pool. Mommy took some video of the fun.

First Easter Egg Hunt

We got to spend Easter with aunts, uncles, and cousins at Grandma G's house this year. Little C was too young for an Easter egg hunt last year, so this was his first experience with Easter eggs. Mommy and Aunt C. hid the eggs making sure to leave lots out for Little C to find.

Aunt C. helped Little C with his bucket and getting the eggs while Mommy took pictures.
Uncle V. is helping make sure Little C gets his fare share.

Little C is getting into it ...
 Moving on ...
Found another one while Aunt K. is looking on ...

Got one, just gotta put it in the basket ...
Cool! I found one over here ...
Easter Egg hunt is over, now Mommy is helping Little C find out what treasures he found.
Mmmm ... Lots of yummy goodies!! Little C also got a little over a dollar in coins that Grandma G. put in the eggs from her coin jar. Mommy put them in a bag and then we got to put them in Little C's piggy bank after we got home.

Little C enjoying the bounty of his treasures! He really loved the candy and Mommy had to finally hide the bag from him so he wouldn't make himself sick.
